Where did you shine this week?

Learned some interesting stuff this week that might make a difference to you if you want to be more successful. Here goes.

This week was spent meeting over 200 HR professionals at the HR Strategy Forum. I was representing the Cool Leadership brand (a partnership with Dr Jacquie Drake from Cranfield Business School). I had to pitch what we did 20 times, in pitches of 6 minutes each. Quite a challenge, but a great way to see what resonates with your audience. Here’s what I learned.

What’s On Fire This Week

Not having too much thinking time. Thinking is good, but too much of it stifles action. Stop thinking and start doing. It’s transformation. Trust me on that. Watch your audience, take feedback and keep adapting. By pitch 4 things were starting to rock, by pitch 10 people were queuing to see me…..

Scorching Read of the Week

The Motivation Myth, by Jeff Haden. Well written and funny, and offers some general success tips. Liked it, pulled some nuggets (attributed of course) for use in FiredUp. Great cover too!

Smokin’ Quote of the Week

It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves. Edmund Hillary.

Illuminating Revelation of the Week

Be less ordinary – and people will come and seek you out. Easy to say and we all know it at an intellectual level, but when you actually DO it – it’s like magic. Be courageous.

Where Did You Shine This Week?

I shined by sending these ideas out to you this week and overcoming my temptation to stay locked into editing FiredUp (the first draft is just about locked down!). How about you. Let me know what little (or big) wins you have had this last week… I love to hear about them.

So, until next Friday
Keep your flame alight
