Last week I had the pleasure of speaking on stage, on the panel, for Women in Tech at the Headz Up Business at Digital, Sales, Marketing and Technology event at Birmingham City Council House. The founder of the event, Pushpa Alexander is a force of nature. It was interesting to hear from the other panellists and the audience just how few women there still are in the technology sector.
I believe women have a great role to play to ensure that tech has the human touch. One of the biggest functions of technology today is to connect people and, at the risk of sounding sexist, there is no doubt in my mind that women generally have higher levels of emotional intelligence as a natural attribute. We need to make sure that this is fully utilised in the design of our technology and the way we run our tech companies. The video of the event is available to view here.
