Fired Up Friday

Hello and welcome to...

Welcome to the very first Fired Up Friday!

What’s On Fire This Week

I decided to see if I could the key 5 ideas from my 80,000 word manuscript of #FiredUp and turn them into an infographic. Here’s what you can learn from that exercise:

– If you can’t turn your key proposition into a picture, it’s not fully refined yet
– A Diagram / Infographic is worth 10,000 words
– It’s your elevator pitch on one sheet
– It’s the framework for your keynote speech
– It’s a great idea for the reverse of your business card!

Delivering simple and actionable ideas is where your true value, and the money in your business, is lurking. For many people, the big bucks don’t come because they give too much and overwhelm people. Simple is best. Less is more. Nuff said.

Scorching Read of the Week

The Power of Moments: Why Certain Experiences Have Extraordinary Impact by Chip and Dan Heath.
The Heath brothers are exceptional storytellers and this book is one of their best.  It’s about designing meaningful experiences and magic moments that change lives.  I highly recommend it.

Smokin’ Quote of the Week

“Personal mastery is the discipline of continually clarifying and deepening our personal vision, of focusing our energies, of developing patience, and of seeing reality objectively.”
– Peter Senge, The Fifth Discipline

Illuminating Revelation of the Week

What revealed itself fully this week is the clear distinction between being Fired Up and being driven.

When you are Fired Up and excited about a task, you don’t need drive – because all the energy you need is just flowing effortlessly. It’s when the fire dies down that your drive needs to take over.

Incidentally, #FiredUp had the working title of Driven for a long time – and then I realised that driven people have both qualities – but the #FiredUp times are the ones that we enjoy the most and that make the biggest impact.

Where Did You Shine This Week?

It’s much easier to focus on our shortcomings and failures than it is to celebrate our progress and successes.

So I challenge you to change that from today. How about creating a new habit of reflecting on and sharing where you have shined this week. Tell me where you have burned brightly this week and let’s inspire each other with some good news.

Just reply to this email or share on my FB page. I’ll start a #FiredUpFriday hashtag and a Friday post and you can join in and tell me your progress there if FB is your hangout place. It doesn’t have to be a big win; any progress towards your vision it worth celebrating. A new logo, an insight or a new client – if it has moved you forward I would love to hear about it!

So, until next Friday
Keep your flame alight,
Sophie

p.s. You probably already know that I have been beavering away writing a new book.  It’s been six months of almost full-time concentration, and while I’ve been researching and writing I’ve discovered some fascinating things that I’m going to share with you over the coming months.

So far I have interviewed people from all walks of life including leading scientists, entrepreneurs, fighter pilots, authors, business school gurus, speakers and sports people. There have been some incredible interviews and I can’t wait to share some of the ‘behind the scenes’ video footage. It’s all going to come out over the coming months in the #FiredUpFriday posts so I do hope you keep reading. Have a great weekend!
